Nicole Adair is a Ph.D. candidate in Comparative Literature and an M.A. candidate in English at U.C. Berkeley, where she works on Women and Gender Studies, Biblical Hermeneutics, Renaissance and Early Modern Studies, and Creative Writing. Her dissertation project, ‘The Hermeneutics of the Veil,’ critically examines the relationship between suspicion and faith in Italian, French, and English early modern poetry. Her creative work appears in World Literature Today (2018). Nicole joined Berkeley’s Comparative Literature department in 2014, after receiving a B.A. from Brown University. She is also the Co-Director of Beyond Academia.
