UC Berkeley English Professor (and 2011 PhD/Comp Lit alum) Amanda Goldstein has won the MLA Prize (PDF file)(link is external) for a First Book for Sweet Science: Romantic Materialism and the New Logics of Life (University of Chicago Press, 2017).
Comparative Literature/Italian Professor Barbara Spackman has received honorable mention for the Howard Marraro Prize from the Modern Language Association (PDF file)(link is external) for her new book Accidental Orientalists: Modern Italian Travelers in Ottoman Lands (Liverpool University Press, 2017).
