A memorial service for Michael André Bernstein, late Professor of English and Comparative Literature, will be held at 3:00pm, Saturday, December 3, 2011, in the Maude Fife Room, on the 3rd floor of Wheeler Hall.

Michael André Bernstein, Professor of English and Comparative Literature at UC Berkeley, died May 25, 2011 at the age of 63, bringing to an end a prolific, thirty-six year career as teacher, a scholar-critic, a poet and a novelist. His work in all these domains was distinguished by a highly original critical vocabulary and personal vision of the intersection of literature and history, culture and morality.

Both the public at large and the academic community in Berkeley are invited to join in celebrating his life and career at the December 3rd memorial service, co-hosted by the UC Berkeley Departments of English and Comparative Literature and the Bernstein family.
